Iran targets joint investment with OIC states in health tourism

Iran is keen on joint investment with members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in the field of health tourism, head of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines Mohammad Nahavandian said on Saturday.
He told a press conference on the sidelines of the Third Seminar on Health Tourism of the Islamic States, that health tourism is of high economic and social importance because tourism industry accounts for seven percent of global business.

He said that tourism industry revenues worldwide are more than $1,030 billion.




He added that Muslim states have high potentials to gain tourism income but the amount of money they spend on the industry is times higher than what they earn.

Of course, he added, some Muslim countries like Turkey and Malaysia have already made good planning and extensive investment in the field.
